At Publishing Patrol, we’ve seen our fair share of bookstore reviews, but few capture the magic of the holiday shopping experience quite like the recent feedback from the Eh Wandering Family regarding their visit to McNally Robinson Booksellers.
As independent bookstores continue to serve as vital cultural hubs, the Eh Wandering Family’s experience highlights why McNally Robinson remains a "people’s choice" for bibliophiles and gamers alike. Their review paints a picture of a cozy, inclusive environment where the "mezzanine for kids" isn't just a section, but an adventure.
The Breakdown: Games, Books, and "Cozy" Vibes
The review specifically calls out the impressive depth of the store's inventory, moving beyond standard bestsellers to include interactive experiences like the EXIT series a popular "Escape Room" board game series that has become a staple for tabletop enthusiasts.
According to the Publishing Patrol analysts, what sets this review apart is the mention of the store’s layout. McNally Robinson is known for its radial "Parisian" floor plan, which creates themed alcoves rather than rigid aisles. This allows parents to browse nearby book selections while keeping a watchful eye on their children in the play areas, a detail the Eh Wandering Family noted with appreciation.
The Full Review
"We went in today for games and books for Christmas. We were excited to see the huge selection of games including exit (a break out type game)! Our three children had fun playing while we were able to look at the books near by. There are some amazing selections of books for children. The staff upstairs were super friendly and helpful. The Place is cozy." - Eh Wondering Family
Why This Review Matters
In the world of bookstore reviews, three things consistently signal a top-tier establishment: curation, atmosphere, and service. The Eh Wandering Family’s experience hits all three:
Curation: Highlighting the "amazing selections" and specific titles like the EXIT games.
Atmosphere: Describing the space as "cozy," a sentiment echoed by many who visit the Grant Park or Saskatoon locations.
Service: A special nod to the "super friendly" staff upstairs likely the dedicated children’s and toy department experts who make the mezzanine a destination in its own right.
Whether you're hunting for the latest Giller Prize nominee or a mind-bending puzzle for a snowy afternoon, this review confirms that McNally Robinson continues to be a sanctuary for families.
